ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
PRINCIPAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
The Town of Bethlehem Department of Public Works is seeking candidates for Engineering Technician, Senior Engineering Technician, or Principal Engineering Technician. Duties will vary based upon qualifications and title. Primary duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Performs construction inspection for Town public works infrastructure projects (water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and roads). Responsible for verification of work conformance with plans, specifications and the Town standards;
- Oversees construction inspection services provided by consultants.
Secondary duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Verifies completeness and accuracy of engineering drawings, record drawings, public works plans, and right-of-way maps;
- Reviews submittals and verifies completeness and accuracy of documentation associated with the Town’s infrastructure acceptance;
- Assists with preparing contract bids, drawings and project specifications;
- Reviews permit applications for work within Town right-of-ways;
- Assists with administering construction contracts;
- Reviews grading plans and inspects residential construction sites for grading compliance;
Minimum Experience and Training for Engineering Technician: (Either)
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate’s Degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, construction technology, geographic information systems or a related field; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in field surveying, drafting, geographic information systems and/or construction.
Minimum Experience and Training for Senior Engineering Technician: (Either)
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience in field surveying, CAD, construction inspection or highway construction; OR
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with at least an Associate’s Degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, construction technology, geographic information systems or a related field and two (2) years of experience as noted in (A).
Minimum Experience and Training for Principal Engineering Technician: (Either)
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate’s Degree in civil engineering technology or a related field and four (4) years of experience in surveying, drafting, and/or construction; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of experience in field surveying, drafting, and/or construction.
