Reports To: Manufacturing Process Engineer
Position Summary
The Engineering Technician provides hands‑on technical support to the Process Engineering and Operations teams in the development, improvement, documentation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production systems.
Working under the direction of the Process Engineer, the Engineering Technician supports testing, data collection, process troubleshooting, equipment and process improvement activities, technical documentation, and production‑floor problem solving. The role works cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations and is expected to perform assigned work in accordance with established procedures, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Essential Job Functions
Engineering and Process Support
- Perform testing, data collection, process trials, and other technical activities in support of Process Engineering within established procedures and under the direction of the Process Engineer.
- Collect, organize, and document process and production data to support engineering evaluations, troubleshooting, and process‑improvement activities.
- Assist with identifying manufacturing‑process issues, recurring production problems, and potential root causes and communicate findings to the Process Engineer.
- Support implementation and ongoing sustainment of process changes and engineering improvements.
- Review and update process records, work instructions, setup instructions, operating procedures, and other technical documentation as directed.
- Assist with development and maintenance of equipment operating procedures and preventative‑maintenance requirements.
Equipment and Production Support’
- Provide hands‑on technical support to production when equipment or process issues occur.
- Assist operators with troubleshooting equipment, manufacturing processes, and process‑related questions within the technician's established level of authority and training.
- Support equipment setup, adjustment, troubleshooting, installation, qualification, and improvement activities as assigned.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders regarding equipment, tooling, process, or service‑related activities as directed by the Process Engineer.
- Utilize precision measurement instruments and technical documentation to evaluate equipment, tooling, components, and manufacturing processes.
Continuous Improvement and Operational Support
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, cost, and process consistency.
- Participate in and provide ongoing support for Lean and continuous‑improvement activities, including 5S, time studies, Kaizen events, data collection, visual management, and waste‑reduction initiatives.
- Observe and assist with training production associates regarding approved work instructions, equipment procedures, and process requirements.
- Support adherence to established Safety, Quality, Engineering, Production, and corporate requirements and objectives.
- Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Operations, and other functional teams to support effective production operations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two or more years of university‑level coursework in a STEM discipline or an Associate degree in a STEM or related technical discipline.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to work with manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Assist with development and maintenance of equipment operating procedures and preventative‑maintenance requirements.

- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to conduct technical research using available resources.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving and equipment/process troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures and collaboratively as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Ability to communicate technical and operational information clearly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or technical production environment.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, time studies, or other continuous‑improvement methodologies.
- Experience working within an ISO‑regulated or controlled manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with PLC programming.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.

Regulatory and Quality Requirements
- Comply with all applicable company safety, quality, environmental, engineering, and manufacturing procedures.
- Follow applicable Quality Management System requirements, work instructions, specifications, and controlled-document practices.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment.
- Comply with applicable ISO Class 6 cleanroom gowning and contamination‑control procedures when work requires entry into controlled environments.
- Immediately communicate identified safety, quality, equipment, or process concerns through established channels.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform work in a manufacturing environment that may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, and working at or around manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
The position requires the ability to use hand tools and precision measurement equipment and may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities may include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish details necessary for measurement, inspection, equipment troubleshooting, and interpretation of technical documentation.

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to CNC and other manufacturing equipment, moving mechanical parts, industrial noise, metal shavings, lubricants, coolants, compressed‑air systems, and other manufacturing materials.
The employee may also perform work within controlled or cleanroom environments and must be comfortable wearing required PPE and complying with ISO Class 6 gowning requirements.
