A leading company seeks a skilled Prototype Lab Technician in Massachusetts to support the development of single-use bioprocess equipment prototypes. This dynamic role involves assembling 2D and 3D assemblies, maintaining safety protocols, and collaborating with engineering teams to drive innovation in a fast-paced lab environment.
We are seeking a skilled Prototype Lab Technician to support the manufacturing and development of single-use (SU) bioprocess equipment prototypes. This role plays a key part in internal R&D initiatives, customer evaluations, and innovation programs. The successful candidate will work hands-on in a fast-paced lab environment to assemble 2D and 3D SU assemblies, tubing configurations, and fluid pathway consumables. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, technical problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:Assemble, modify, and package SU prototypes in accordance with work instructions and technical drawings.
Utilize bioprocess films, sealing tools, and polymer welding equipment to fabricate assemblies.
Interpret and follow special build instructions, BOMs, redlined drawings, and specifications within a PLM system.
Explore feasibility and techniques for new assembly methods; support fabrication of prototype components.
Manage and track inventory; issue material move tickets and procure components as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing Engineers and R&D stakeholders.
Support troubleshooting and resolve assembly-related issues in the lab.
Operate test and measurement equipment for data acquisition, tensile/load testing, and diagnostics.
Maintain adherence to QMS, GMP, and EHS safety procedures and protocols.
Associate’s degree in a technical field or 3+ years of relevant technical experience in cleanroom or lab-based manufacturing.
Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience in equipment and assembly processes.
Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—for reporting on deviations and process issues.
Familiarity with ISO 9001/13485 standards and cGMP environments.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a matrixed team environment.
Experience with prototype or product development processes is a plus.
Knowledge of polymer welding techniques (heat sealing, friction, ultrasonic, inductive) is highly desirable.
Self-motivated and proactive in solving technical challenges.
Strong collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
Comfortable working with limited supervision on experimental builds and testing.
Eagerness to learn new technologies and continuously improve processes.
