Job description

Job Title: Engineering Technician Job Description

The Engineering Technician supports assembly and manufacturing operations in a hands‑on, technical capacity. This role serves as a critical bridge between engineering and the production floor, providing technical support, troubleshooting, pilot builds, training, and process support. The Engineering Technician works closely with engineers and manufacturing associates to enable smooth new product introductions, resolve production issues, and ensure operators follow accurate processes and work instructions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to production and engineering teams, focusing on problem solving and process support rather than direct production labor.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, and electronic issues as they arise on the production floor, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Support new product development and pilot builds, including building first‑article or first‑time units before release to full production.
  • Assist with root cause analysis for production and quality issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
  • Help train manufacturing associates and technicians through both formal and informal training on processes, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Review, update, and follow work instructions and standard operating procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency in production.
  • Work collaboratively with process engineers, product engineers, and manufacturing personnel to align technical solutions with production needs.
  • Split working time between bench or desk‑based technical work and floor support, communication, and coordination activities.
  • Support production needs during overtime and occasional weekend rotations when required to meet operational demands.
Essential Skills
  • Hands‑on experience in electronics manufacturing, assembly, or technical support.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting electronic or electro‑mechanical assemblies in a production or lab environment.
  • Strong ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate effectively with operators, technicians, and engineers.
  • Comfort providing technical guidance, direction, and coaching to others on the production floor.
  • Willingness to work onsite on a full‑time basis with flexibility to support overtime and occasional weekend work.
  • Solid understanding of basic electrical and electronic principles relevant to manufacturing and assembly.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in engineering, electrical, and manufacturing contexts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience participating in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts within a manufacturing environment.
  • Background supporting new product introductions or pilot builds in electronics or electro‑mechanical production.
  • Ability to interpret and work from detailed work instructions, technical documentation, and process guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration between engineering and production teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple support requests and prioritize work on a dynamic production floor.
Work Environment

This role is based onsite in an electronics manufacturing environment and involves a mix of bench or desk‑based technical work (approximately 4050% of the time) and active floor support, communication, and coordination (approximately 5060% of the time). The Engineering Technician works closely with process and product engineers, as well as manufacturing associates and technicians, in a highly interactive, team‑oriented setting. The position requires flexibility to support overtime and occasional weekend rotations in alignment with production schedules. Work is performed around electronic and electro‑mechanical assemblies, test equipment, and standard manufacturing tools in a structured production facility.
