Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering Technician or related role.
  • Associate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing/production support environments.
  • Ability to read and apply engineering drawings/blueprints in production.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering TechnicianJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports manufacturing engineering initiatives that optimize production processes, tooling, and workstation design. You will assist in process improvement efforts, maintain and update engineering documentation, troubleshoot manufacturing issues on the production floor, and collect and analyze production data to drive continuous improvement. This role contributes directly to efficient, safe, and high-quality operations by implementing engineering changes and supporting new product introductions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in developing, documenting, and improving standard work instructions, routings, and process flows for production operations.

  • Support process optimization efforts to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across manufacturing lines.

  • Support the design, fabrication, and setup of jigs, fixtures, gauges, and workstation layouts to enhance productivity and ergonomics.

  • Assist with first-article inspection and validation of new or modified tooling, fixtures, and processes.

  • Gather, organize, and maintain production data, including cycle times, scrap rates, downtime, and quality metrics, to support root-cause analysis and process improvement projects.

  • Analyze collected data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for process enhancement.

  • Participate in Lean and Six Sigma initiatives such as 5S, kaizen events, and value stream mapping to reduce waste and improve throughput, safety, and quality.

  • Provide floor support to diagnose process or equipment issues, collaborating with production, quality, and maintenance teams to implement effective corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, work instructions, and change records in accordance with company change-control procedures.

  • Assist with the setup and trial runs of new products or process changes, including conducting time studies and supporting line balancing activities.

  • Support new product introduction by ensuring processes, tooling, and documentation are ready for production launch.

  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures while supporting compliance with applicable industry and regulatory standards.

  • Communicate proactively with production supervisors, quality engineers, and maintenance staff to resolve process-related issues in a timely and collaborative manner.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing ideas, feedback, and best practices across teams.

Essential Skills
  • 2+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician or in a closely related manufacturing engineering support role.

  • Associate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands‑on manufacturing experience.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or engineering support environment.

  • Hands‑on experience with engineering drawings and blueprints, including the ability to read, interpret, and apply them in a production setting.

  • Proficiency with CAD software to support design and modification of tooling, fixtures, and workstation layouts.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools, including 5S, kaizen, and value stream mapping.

  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies and basic problem‑solving tools for process improvement.

  • Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) for managing and tracking production activities.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical engineering concepts as applied to manufacturing processes.

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for diagnosing process and equipment issues in a production environment.

  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze production data to support root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and change records.

  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross‑functional teams in production, quality, and maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience participating in structured continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and Six Sigma projects.

  • Exposure to process validation activities, including first‑article inspections and trial runs.

  • Experience supporting new product introductions, including time studies and line balancing.

  • Familiarity with standard work development and documentation practices.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Motivation to grow into a long‑term role with the potential to transition to a direct employee after a defined period, based on performance and business needs.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in an office environment, spending approximately 80% of your time on engineering, documentation, data analysis, and collaboration activities. The remaining 20% of your time will be on the shop floor, providing hands‑on support for process troubleshooting, tooling and fixture setup, and new product introductions. The role involves regular interaction with production, quality, and maintenance teams and requires comfort moving between office and manufacturing settings while following all safety and operational procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tomball, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
