Actalent is seeking a hands-on assembler for a Newton, MA-based contract role focusing on mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies in a regulated R&D environment. You will build from engineering docs, support prototype builds, perform cable wiring, soldering, and testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and traceability.
The ideal candidate has experience reading drawings and BOMs, applies SOPs, and participates in lean initiatives.
This role focuses on assembling and testing complex mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components and subassemblies in a regulated, research and development environment. You will work from detailed engineering documentation, support prototype builds and new product introduction activities, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality, reliable products. The position involves hands‑on assembly, light soldering, cable building, and continuous process improvement while adhering to strict quality and safety standards.
You will work in a fluid and dynamic R&D environment that is currently in the design phase, where daily tasks and product configurations can change based on project needs. The role is not in a high‑volume production setting; instead, you will support research and development activities, prototype builds, and new product introductions. The work involves extensive electromechanical assembly with a strong focus on mechanical components, limited straight electrical work, and a moderate amount of soldering. You will regularly build cables and subassemblies while following detailed documentation and quality standards. The workspace follows lean manufacturing and 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and efficiency, and you should be prepared for hands‑on work that may require lifting up to 50 lbs and using standard assembly and test equipment.
This is a Contract position based out of Newton, MA.
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
