Job summary

TOKYO ELECTRON AMERICA, INC. in Hillsboro, OR seeks a hands-on technician/engineer to support design, test, and checkout of prototype electro mechanical systems and related test equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or 2 years related experience required; 4 years in lieu of degree may substitute
• Military technical training and field experience may substitute for an Associate Degree
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

• Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions
• Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment
• Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions
• Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment
• Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus

• Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment.
• Works on applications that may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems.
• Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
• Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
• Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
• Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment.
• Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

Typical Education And Experience

• Bachelor's Degree; or Associate's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree; completion of military technical training and field experience may substitute for an Associate's Degree; high school diploma or equivalent required.

• This position operates in an environment that may contain dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane and solvents. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
• This job also requires the use of machines and hand tools necessary for tool and die fabrication, including lathe, milling machining, band saw, jig saw, drill press, filer, grinders, arc welder, brazing unit and other standard tools.
• This position requires frequent lifting up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
