Qualifications

THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides training and support in construction inspection and project documentation across multiple engineering technology areas. It focuses on learning field procedures, reviewing materials, and assisting with on-site project activities. As an Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties:

• Construction Assistance: Support inspection of transportation construction phases including grade and elevation checks
• Material Monitoring: Observe placement of concrete, bituminous mixes, drainage items, and other construction materials
• Project Documentation: Maintain reports, sketches, daily records, and electronic entries for construction activities
• Field Problem Solving: Help resolve construction issues and note plan changes during project work
• Testing Support: Perform visual compaction checks for soils, aggregates, and subsurface layers
• Technical Coordination: Assist with digital systems, project records, and communication with staff and agencies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• This position is based in Dauphin County and requires travel to project field offices within PennDOT District 8-0, including Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, York, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Perry Counties.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
