Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or equivalent experience
• 2+ years in automated manufacturing, preferably metals (machining, welding, heat treating, coating)
• Exposure to robotic programming (Fanuc)
• High-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment preferred
• Safety-focused culture with teamwork and accountability

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot advanced automation systems and calibrate gauges/instrumentation
• Program machines and work with PLCs to diagnose issues
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance to optimize equipment performance

Job description

Our client is a large, privately held firm in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They are an industry-leader in manufacturing residential and commercial products and are looking for Automation and Controls Technicians to join their team and make an immediate impact! The Engineering Technicians will be responsible for advanced automation troubleshooting, gauge and instrumentation calibration, machine programming, and opportunities to work with PLC's and problem diagnosis. This is a first shift opportunity!

This role will: Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance, monitoring equipment performance and adjusting setups, calibrations, and alignments on production equipment to ensure production equipment is running as efficiently as possible.

Desired skills, education, and experience:

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing); or Equivalent Professional Experience
• 2+ years of experience, with exposure to Automated Manufacturing, ideally in metals manufacturing (machining, welding, heat treating, coating, et cetera); Robotic Programming (Fanuc)
• High-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment preferred;
• Ability to create a culture of safety, collaboration/teamwork, accountability, and trust.
