Job summary

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking an Engineering Technician to fabricate, assemble, and evaluate electronic and mechanical parts for electronic equipment and thermal management systems.

You will work in an interdisciplinary team to address design and manufacturing challenges, perform testing, document procedures, and support production launches.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical assembly and testing experience.
• Located within 50 miles of Fredericksburg, VA; no relocation offered.
• No immigration sponsorship for this position.
• Experience with board-level soldering and cabling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication, electronic enclosure wirings, system cable routing, printed circuit board soldering, and wiring quality checks.
• Assemble mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, piping, cable routing, printed circuit board install, rack structures.
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assists in finding vendors to fabricate designed PCBs.
• Lead testing on new and modified designs.
• Develops and carries out test plans and qualification testing required for production launch.
• Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce assembly work instruction, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures.

Boyd Thermal by Eaton - The Engineering Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, modifying, and evaluating electronic/mechanical parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems including thermal management, control, and power distribution.

The Role Will Include

• Assembling electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication, electronic enclosure wirings, system cable routing, printed circuit board soldering, and wiring quality checks
• Assembling mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, piping, cable routing, printed circuit board install, rack structures
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assists in finding vendors to fabricate designed PCBs
• Leads testing on new and modified designs

Basic (required) Qualification

• Must possess a high School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality checks
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues during board bring up and validation
• Bachelor’s or advanced engineering degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
• Competent in use of reading drawings, schematics, and work instructions
• Demonstrated experience in board-level electronic circuit soldering, including mixed-signal Analog/Digital
• Comfortable with standard lab equipment
• DMM, oscilloscope, signal generators, soldering equipment, general power tools
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
