Job summary

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking an Engineering Technician to fabricate, assemble, modify and evaluate electronic and mechanical parts and systems, including thermal management and power distribution, in Fredericksburg, VA.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team to address design and manufacturing challenges, perform PCB soldering, wiring, cable routing, create schematics, develop test plans and document results for production launches.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and testing.
• Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality checks.
• Bachelor’s or advanced engineering degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Competent in reading drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Demonstrated experience in board-level electronic circuit soldering, including mixed-signal Analog/Digital.
• Comfortable with standard lab equipment: DMM, oscilloscope, signal generators, soldering equipment, general power tools.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and demands.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, modify, and evaluate electronic and mechanical parts and systems.
• Assemble electrical product designs within an interdisciplinary team including cable fabrication, wiring, routing, PCB soldering, and quality checks.
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assist in vendor selection for PCB fabrication.
• Lead testing on new and modified designs.
• Develop and carry out test plans and qualification testing for production launches.
• Maintain product documentation and produce assembly work instructions, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures.

Job DescriptionBoyd Thermal by Eaton - The Engineering Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, modifying, and evaluating electronic/mechanical parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems including thermal management, control, and power distribution.The role will include:Assembling electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication, electronic enclosure wirings, system cable routing, printed circuit board soldering, and wiring quality checksAssembling mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, piping, cable routing, printed circuit board install, rack structuresInstall electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assists in finding vendors to fabricate designed PCBsLeads testing on new and modified designsDevelops and carries out test plans and qualification testing required for production launchMaintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce assembly work instruction, test reports, operating manuals and test proceduresBasic (required) QualificationMust possess a high School Diploma or GED.3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and testing.Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
