Job summary

Boyd Thermal by Eaton in Fredericksburg, VA seeks an Engineering Technician to fabricate, assemble, modify, and evaluate electronic/mechanical parts for thermal management and power distribution.

You will work with an inter-disciplinary team on cable fabrication, PCB soldering, mechanical assembly, and testing, while producing work instructions and test reports for production launches.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and testing.
• Eaton will not consider immigration sponsorship for this position; no CPT/OPT/STEM OPT work authorization.
• Must be located within 50 miles of Fredericksburg, VA; no relocation offered.
• Active duty military are exempt from these requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team for complex design challenges including cable fabrication and wiring checks.
• Assemble mechanical system components such as motors, heat exchangers, and rack structures.
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, and assist in PCB fabrication and repair.
• Lead testing on new and modified designs and develop test plans for production launches.
• Maintain product documentation and produce assembly work instructions, test reports, and procedures.
• Support vendor discovery for PCB fabrication and ensure quality and traceability.

Job Description Boyd Thermal by Eaton - The Engineering Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, modifying, and evaluating electronic/mechanical parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems including thermal management, control, and power distribution.

The role will include:

• Assembling electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication, electronic enclosure wirings, system cable routing, printed circuit board soldering, and wiring quality checks
• Assembling mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, piping, cable routing, printed circuit board install, rack structures
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assists in finding vendors to fabricate designed PCBs
• Leads testing on new and modified designs
• Develops and carries out test plans and qualification testing required for production launch
• Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce assembly work instruction, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures

Basic (required) Qualification

• Must possess a high School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality checks
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues during board bring up and validation
• Bachelor’s or advanced engineering degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
• Competent in use of reading drawings, schematics, and work instructions
• Demonstrated experience in board-level electronic circuit soldering, including mixed-signal Analog/Digital
• Comfortable with standard lab equipment DMM, oscilloscope, signal generators, soldering equipment, general power tools
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
