Job summary

HireArt is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the build and maintenance of test systems used to validate autonomous vehicle designs. You will assemble custom hardware for Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, diagnose equipment, and collaborate with engineering teams on complex issues.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on experience with test hardware, cable harnessing, and computer components, with onsite work in Foster City, CA.

Job description

Expected compensation: 51.36 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping our client find an Engineering Technician to support the build and maintenance of test systems used to validate the design of their autonomous vehicles.

In this role, you’ll assemble custom hardware to enable Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of software builds. You’ll diagnose and repair test equipment, manage configurations of test platforms for vehicle simulation, and partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues.

The ideal candidate has experience troubleshooting technical issues and working with diagnostic tools and is comfortable building and maintaining complex systems. You are excited to develop new solutions that support a rapidly evolving R&D organization.

As An Engineering Technician, You'll

• Support and track various configurations and generations of test platforms for vehicle simulation and software test platform.
• Assemble custom hardware to enable Hardware-in-the-Loop testing of software builds.
• Use commercially available, off-the-shelf components to build computers.
• Integrate network and vehicle system components in server racks.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair test hardware and equipment.
• Build cable harnesses based on diagrams or drawings.
• Occasionally move computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Work with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Create and track tickets within the ticketing system to address problems, incidents, and changes of hardware and provide details of work performed.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for parts receiving, installs, upgrades, and decommissioning projects.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience
• Demonstrated ability to use general shop, automotive, and diagnostic tools (DMM, Oscilloscope, Harnessing Tools, etc.)
• Experience with building and troubleshooting cable harnessing and familiarity with cable management
• Experience with building, troubleshooting, and diagnosing computers, computer components, etc.
• Working knowledge of computer and networking hardware
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to lift 25-30-pound boxes
• Ability to crawl/bend to work on low-ground wiring as needed

Bonus Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, JIRA, Confluence, or similar programs
• Knowledge of automotive electrical systems
• Experience in running scripts and working with Linux-based systems
