Job summary

HireArt is assisting an on‑demand, autonomous ride‑hailing company to hire an Electronics Engineer to build, bring up, rework, and test vehicle electronics and PCB assemblies, driving prototype hardware toward production.

You’ll collaborate with electrical engineers on PCB assemblies, wire harnesses, control panels, and test hardware while owning day-to-day electronics lab operations and inventory management. This full‑time, on‑site role requires Bay Area travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience with electronic product assembly.
• Experience with electronics prototyping and functional verification or testing.
• Strong soldering and PCB rework skills, including under a microscope.
• Hands-on proficiency with lab equipment (multimeters, power supplies).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and BOMs.
• Experience with mechanical hand tools for electronic assemblies.
• Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
• Strong computer skills (macOS or Windows).
• Attention to detail and methodical, high-quality work.
• Proactive communication in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build, bring up, assemble, and rework multilayer boards and vehicle electronics with engineers.
• Build, modify, and repair automotive-grade wire harnesses using TE, Molex, Deutsch connectors.
• Assemble and wire control panels, test benches, and related test hardware.
• Inspect PCBAs and prototype hardware to identify issues and support verification.
• Maintain the electronics lab, tools, equipment, and workspace.
• Manage components, consumables, and purchases; maintain inventory.
• Track equipment and shipments to external sites or vehicle teams.
• Travel within the Bay Area to provide hands-on support.

Expected compensation: 71.10 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find an Electronics Engineer to build, bring up, rework, and test vehicle electronics and PCB assemblies while supporting the transition of prototype hardware into production.

In this role, you’ll work directly with electrical engineers on PCB-level assembly and rework, automotive wire harnesses, control panels, and test hardware. You’ll also take ownership of day-to-day electronics lab operations, ensuring components, tools, equipment, and prototype assets are organized, tracked, and readily available to support rapid engineering and testing cycles.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, hands-on electronics professional with strong soldering, rework, assembly, and troubleshooting skills. You’re a proactive self-starter who takes pride in precise, high-quality work and can adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining an organized and efficient lab environment.

As An Electronics Engineer, You’ll

• Build, bring up, assemble, and rework multilayer electronic circuit boards and other vehicle electronics in partnership with electrical engineers.
• Build, modify, and repair automotive-grade wire harnesses using industry-standard connectors such as TE, Molex, and Deutsch.
• Assemble and wire electrical control panels, industrial rack systems, test benches, and related test hardware.
• Inspect PCBAs, cable assemblies, and prototype hardware to identify and resolve assembly issues and support functional verification.
• Maintain and improve the electronics lab, including tools, equipment, workspaces, maintenance needs, and overall lab capabilities.
• Manage electrical components, connectors, consumables, and engineering purchases, proactively maintaining inventory to support rapid engineering and testing cycles.
• Track high-value equipment, prototype parts, and test fixtures, including equipment lending, prototype intake, and outbound shipments to external sites or vehicle teams.
• Travel within the Bay Area as needed to provide hands‑on electronics and hardware support.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with electronic product assembly
• Experience with electronics prototyping and functional verification or testing
• Strong soldering and PCB rework skills, including experience working under a microscope
• Hands‑on proficiency with common electronics lab equipment, including digital multimeters, power supplies, and electronic loads
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and BOMs
• Experience using mechanical hand tools commonly used for electronic assemblies
• Strong documentation and technical writing skills
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with macOS or Windows and browser‑based applications
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to producing high‑quality, low‑defect work
• Ability to communicate proactively and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities and input from multiple stakeholders
• Ability to travel within the Bay Area as needed to provide onsite support

Bonus Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge relevant to electronic assemblies
• Experience diagnosing electrical systems
• Experience with safety‑critical electronics designed for harsh environments, such as automotive, aerospace, defense, or space systems
• PCB design experience using Altium Designer or KiCad
• CAD experience with Altium Designer or SolidWorks
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Familiarity with Linux environments
