Job summary

Whirlpool, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineering Tech to join their Commercial Laundry organization. Quality Engineering Tech (Hourly)

Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hourly Rate: $34.35

Overview

Whirlpool Corporation is a leading home appliance company committed to continuous improvement and innovation. The Quality Engineering Tech joins the Commercial Laundry organization to monitor and analyze quality data, train inspectors and technicians, and lead problem‑solving teams to reduce defects.

Primary Function

Monitor and analyze quality data to prioritize quality opportunities, train inspectors and technicians in inspection tools, perform root cause analysis using advanced WCM problem‑solving tools for top quality issues, and provide leadership to teams implementing systemic improvements.

General Quality Responsibilities
  • Monitor key process indicators, create and edit databases and form tools as required to improve quality data collection.
  • Create inspection and test standards, instruct inspectors, and inform them when work does not meet standards.
  • Create data visualizations and perform statistical analysis to prioritize and stratify key quality problems.
  • Lead teams following a disciplined, data‑driven approach to find root causes and determine corrective actions focussing on preventive and proactive measures.
  • Create effective reporting for the plant team and communicate with leadership when assistance is needed.
  • Manage supplier quality issues using SAP and CAPA systems.
Working Procedures
  • Support cost and quality projects by providing data and evaluation.
  • Evaluate parts and products for non‑conformances.
  • Report issues with accuracy of BOMs.
  • Track and understand all corrective notices.
  • Understand and support the APQP process as needed.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers and operations concerning APQP issues.
  • Perform fit/function evaluations.
  • Use all designated safety equipment, observe all safety rules, and follow recognized safe‑practice protocols.
Training and Licensing Requirements

Google Sheets, Docs & Slides, Excel, and MiniTAB. Must complete Black Belt Training and Shainin awareness.

Tools & Equipment

Computers, fax machine, calculator, burden vehicle, tow motor/butterfly, hand trucks, weigh/count scales, small hand tools, calipers, CMM, tensile tester, leak tester, and all regulatory tests required by our products.

Materials

Production parts and supplies, various reporting forms, tools, fixtures, and training materials.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, or Physical Science required.
  • Entry level experience.
  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, world‑class manufacturing, and 6Sigma tools with the ability to apply them.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and interact at all organizational layers.
