Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking an Engineering Technician (internally referred to as Metrology Technician) to join our growing team. As a member of our Engineering Services team, you will support metrology lab functions by performing data collection, dimensional inspections, and calibrations. You will utilize equipment such as laser scanners, CMMs (FARO), optical measurement systems, and hand measurement tools to collect data and create detailed inspection reports for product development or quality inspection. This role is onsite Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm at our corporate headquarters in Colmar, PA. Primary Duties
  1. Utilize lab best practices to prepare sample parts for evaluation.
  2. Identify and use appropriate equipment to obtain required measurements.
  3. Document results in standard report formats and record observations made during testing.
  4. Effectively communicate results to Engineers, Metrologists, and Lab Managers.
  5. Maintain and calibrate a variety of dimensional inspection equipment.
  6. Maintain a lean environment using 5S practices.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with vehicle systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and interpreting technical drawings preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 40 pounds, reach, swivel, carry items, and communicate effectively. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
  • Technical school diploma or Associate's degree in mechanical technology preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a mechanical or test technician in a manufacturing or laboratory environment preferred.
