About The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the electronic drafting support of engineering activities associated with utility construction.

Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and construction of overhead and underground high voltage electrical systems
  • Perform AutoCAD/Microsoft drawing activities as assigned
  • Input field data into electronic format
  • Assist engineering staff with the design and layout of construction prints
  • Complete daily contract administration; attends project meetings
  • Conducts field audits for the construction of gas and/or electrical power systems
  • Provides engineering information to customers; responds to inquiries and requests
  • Demonstrates knowledge of construction sites, the work, and the feasibility of the construction
  • Fosters a safe, productive job-site environment and quality work products; encourages an attitude of safety and quality in others

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Two-year degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil) or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of computer drafting (AutoCAD acceptable, MicroStation preferred)
  • Basic understanding of utility electric and/or gas design standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of electric utility equipment in the field and understanding of the electric distribution process
  • Ability to design electric distribution systems based on field/site conditions and notes, utility infrastructure maps, and input from utility engineers
  • Experience with contractual related project/work environment a plus
  • Proficiency level in MS Office applications (specifically Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Willingness to participate in a team environment
  • Willingness to work in an outside environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Valid driver's license
