Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a Technical Writer to prepare and maintain customer-facing documentation for hardware and software products. The role involves interviewing subject matter experts, drafting content, editing, and creating graphics, with distribution via established electronic templates.

You will work with engineers and coworkers in a collaborative team to ensure accurate, well-structured materials and adherence to company style guides.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1+ years professional technical writing experience related to engineering disciplines (software development, electrical or mechanical engineering, etc.).
• Must have strong writing, editing, organizational and communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong experience using industry-standard tools such as FrameMaker and Acrobat as well as MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain technical documents targeted towards external customers.
• Documentation will apply to hardware, software, or both.
• Interview subject matter experts, generate/write content, edit and proofread text, and create/modify graphics (diagrams, flow charts, screen captures).
• Develop documentation for electronic distribution from established templates.
• Maintain department standards (Style Guides, Word Templates, FrameMaker Templates).
