Job summary

Medical Technology Talent is assisting a global orthopedic medical technology company in Austin, Texas, to hire two Engineering Leads for surgical augmented reality and robotics platforms. You will set technical direction from concept through commercialization and own system architecture across disciplines.

Ideal candidates have 6–12 years in complex medical devices, experience with AR, navigation or surgical robotics, and a strong systems engineering background aligned with ISO 14971.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 6–12 years developing complex medical devices or comparable technology products.
• Experience with surgical AR, navigation, image guided surgery or surgical robotics.
• Strong systems engineering background with design controls and ISO 14971.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.

• Lead system architecture across software, electrical, mechanical and algorithm disciplines.
• Translate clinical needs into system requirements, performance targets and defined system behavior.
• Drive risk management, verification, validation, usability engineering and design transfer.
• Mentor multidisciplinary engineers and influence across a matrixed organization.
• Evaluate emerging technology in AR, navigation, AI, sensors and automation.

Engineering Lead, Surgical Navigation and Robotics | Austin, Texas | Permanent

Own the system, not just a subsystem.

Our client, a global orthopedic medical technology company, is building out a new enabling technologies group focused on surgical augmented reality and surgical robotics. We are looking for two Engineering Leads to set the technical direction for these platforms from concept through commercialization.

If you have worked in defense, aerospace or automotive, this is the medical device equivalent of a senior systems engineering role: architecture, interfaces, coordinate systems, tracking and control, with the whole system in view.
