Job summary

Voltava is seeking an Engineering Intern to support our Ft. Wayne facility. This hands-on opportunity provides exposure to Manufacturing and Controls Engineering, automation, tooling, Lean manufacturing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and process experts to identify opportunities, solve problems, and improve manufacturing processes and equipment. You will learn from seasoned professionals, assist with projects, and contribute to safety,

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Engineering degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work up to 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Learn from Manufacturing and Controls Engineers and Process Experts while supporting day-to-day engineering activities.
  • Assist with automation, controls, tooling, Lean, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify and implement improvement ideas that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Support troubleshooting, debugging, testing, and improvements of automated and semi-automated assembly equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement permanent solutions.
  • Perform and document control system testing and review test results and reports.
  • Develop and maintain technical documents, presentations, work instructions, and How-To guides for manufacturing operations.
  • Support hands-on engineering activities and other assigned projects.

About The Role

We are seeking an Engineering Intern to support our Ft. Wayne facility. What You Will Do

What You Need To Be Successful
  • Currently pursuing an Engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Self‑motivated, dependable, and results oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, automation, controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Safety‑conscious mindset and commitment to following established procedures.
  • Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week.
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Experience with manufacturing, automation, controls, robotics, or assembly equipment.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
  • Previous engineering, manufacturing, or technical internship experience.
Education
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
