Job summary
Loram is seeking a Technical Communications Intern in Minnesota to support creation of operator manuals, maintenance instructions, and other technical materials. The role involves collaborating with engineers and writers to develop clear documentation for railroad maintenance equipment.
The intern will learn to analyze specifications, author content, and prepare illustrations, while operating under close supervision in a professional engineering setting.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or related field.
- Achieved junior status or higher with core coursework completed.
- Willingness to learn tools and application/design skills in the discipline.
- Strong writing and editing abilities, plus problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other 3D modeling software; familiarity with CCMS like DITA.
Responsibilities
- Assist in authoring technical content under guidance of a senior writer or engineer.
- Analyze specifications and performance data to create clear documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering to gather information and resolve issues.
- Prepare outlines and illustrations to support technical documents.
- Perform low-complexity tasks within a project or multiple projects.
