KDFWR is seeking a motivated individual to perform capital construction project management duties. Desiredcandidates will have a working background in the construction industry coupled with strong organizationalmanagement. Job duties include statewide travel with limited overnight stays required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with administration of Capital Construction Program.
  • Coordinates, reviews, inspects design andconstruction of statewide capital projects.
  • Organizes and conducts project development and progress meetings.
  • Prepares and reviews project estimates related to new construction.
  • Participates with Engineering Division administration in evaluating and maintaining of statewide KDFWRfacilities.
  • Plans, oversees, evaluates maintenance projects.
  • Prepares estimates and schedules maintenancework.
  • Collects bids from contractors and verifies department is operating under current spending authority.
  • Works closely with other department divisions and outside agencies to coordinate and participate inspecial projects and events requiring KDFWR presence.
  • Coordinates and participates in special engineering/construction projects and events for KDFWR asdirected.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree whose curriculum is approved by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of engineering related experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) that is recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Four years of engineering and/or construction related experience will substitute for the required bachelor's degree.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in offices and outside on construction and maintenance projects. Work is performed around heavy construction equipment and in all kinds of weather conditions. Travels to construction sites frequently.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
