Job summary

Codal is seeking an Engineering Tech Lead to architect and guide a squad of engineers through complex backend and frontend development. You will design scalable architectures, ensure robust data modeling, and optimize cloud infrastructure to support high-traffic enterprise applications.

The role requires hands-on coding, deep architectural experience, and mentorship of a 4–5 person team. Hybrid work in Chicago, with 401k matching and comprehensive health benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands‑on full‑stack development and technical leadership, delivering enterprise level projects.
• 3+ years of engineering lead experience, leading a team of 3–5 on client engagements (not a people manager role).

Responsibilities

• Lead a squad of 4–5 engineers through backend/frontend development, ensuring robust, scalable systems.
• Design architectures for complex web applications and secure data modeling.
• Maintain high quality and performance across full stack; perform code reviews to improve performance and security.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members and ensure best practices.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and designers to guide projects from discovery to delivery.
