Job summary

Ten Mile Square Technologies, a Northern Virginia-based technology consultancy, is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead (SDET) to guide quality engineering, test automation, release engineering, and enablement across modern cloud apps and legacy systems.

This remote US-based role offers $182,500 in total compensation (base $160k + $22.5k incentive) with strong Agile leadership expectations, AI-assisted tooling, and a focus on delivering reliable software through robust CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in test automation.
• 2+ years as Engineering Team Lead, providing hands-on technical leadership and team mentorship.
• Strong understanding of Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, or comparable languages.
• Expertise designing and developing automation frameworks for distributed systems, APIs, and complex integrations.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Claude and AI-assisted software engineering tools.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, SQL, and modern software architectures.
• Experience managing complex test data and troubleshooting integration issues across multiple systems.
• Ability to work effectively with brittle, poorly documented, or legacy systems without requiring expertise in their underlying technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile team execution, fostering ownership, collaboration, accountability, predictable delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Architect, develop, and maintain reusable test automation frameworks, engineering tools, and quality engineering practices.
• Establish effective testing strategies across API, integration, end-to-end, regression, and performance testing.
• Leverage Claude and other AI tools to improve engineering productivity, automation, testing, and problem-solving.
• Develop strategies for discovering, creating, managing, and maintaining test data across complex, interconnected systems.
• Support testing, release execution, validation, and troubleshooting across modern applications and challenging legacy integrations.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to refine requirements, manage dependencies, plan sprints, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Improve CI/CD integration, automated quality gates, deployment processes, and release confidence.
• Mentor engineers, promote engineering excellence, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
• Proactively collaborate with the Ten Mile Square team on development and knowledge sharing.
• Represent yourself and Ten Mile Square with integrity, expertise, and value.
• Maintain the confidentiality of our clients on an ongoing basis.

Ten Mile Square is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Engineering Team Lead (SDET) to lead a team responsible for quality engineering, test automation, release engineering, and engineering enablement. The successful candidate will support the incremental modernization of a large-scale financial services platform, working across modern cloud technologies and complex legacy systems. This is an individual contributor role combining strong Agile leadership, software engineering expertise, and hands‑on problem‑solving. Compensation (Base + Standard Incentive Pay)

$182,500 ($160K + $22,500)

Job Responsibilities
