Job summary

Manor Vail Lodge in Colorado is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to partner with the Director of Engineering and lead the engineering team. You will supervise staff, oversee preventive maintenance, manage budgets, and handle after-hours emergencies for luxury accommodations including the Golden Peak building across the street.

You will ensure compliance with OSHA, Colorado labor law, ADA, and relevant codes while coordinating vendor relationships and capital projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school preferred in HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing.
• Minimum two years of engineering/maintenance experience in hotel, resort, or luxury residential property.
• Previous supervisory/lead technician experience preferred.
• CPO certification preferred or obtainable within 90 days of hire.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred) required for handling refrigerants.
• Ability to read HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing blueprints.
• Comfort working at heights and in all-season mountain conditions.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineering team's daily operations, staff, and budget, acting as Director in absence.
• Direct, train, schedule, and supervise Engineering staff per policies.
• Resolve guest and owner maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Identify deficiencies, initiate work orders, and perform repairs in guest rooms, condos, and common areas.
• Oversee preventive maintenance program for MEP and life safety equipment.
• Operate and maintain EMS and building automation systems; training provided.
• Assist in preparing and managing annual operating and capital budgets; track timelines/costs.
• Manage contractor and vendor relationships, bids, scheduling, and invoicing.
