Job summary

Rocket in Detroit is seeking a Team Leader in Engineering within Servicing Technology to guide a group of full-stack engineers responsible for the hardship client experience in Default Loan Services. You’ll own delivery, coach engineers, and shape the roadmap for AI-enabled features on a stack including Next.js/React, NestJS GraphQL, .NET/C#, deployed on AWS and EKS.

You’ll partner with product, design, and business stakeholders across distributed teams, hire top talent, and drive engineering

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, including hands-on full-stack work.
• 2+ years of experience leading or managing software engineers.
• Working knowledge of a modern front-end framework (Next.js or React) and a NestJS GraphQL integration layer.
• Working knowledge of back-end development in .NET / C# and NestJS GraphQL.
• Experience delivering software deployed on AWS with Amazon EKS / Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to develop engineers, manage performance, and deliver through a team.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of full-stack engineers, owning hiring, onboarding, performance, and career growth.
• Own your team’s delivery: planning, prioritization, execution, and predictable, high-quality outcomes.
• Set technical direction alongside your engineers across the front end (Next.js or React with a NestJS GraphQL integration layer) and back end (.NET / C# and NestJS GraphQL).
• Ensure applications are reliably built, deployed, and operated on AWS and Amazon EKS through CI/CD pipelines.
• Champion AI-native engineering — driving adoption of AI tools and agentic development workflows to raise team speed and quality.
• Partner with product, design, data, and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous business needs into a clear, achievable roadmap.
• Remove blockers, manage risk, and communicate status, trade-offs, and decisions clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
• Foster a culture of ownership, inclusion, continuous learning, and healthy engineering practices.
• Collaborate effectively across distributed engineering teams, including partners in India.
