Job summary

NACCO Industries, Inc. seeks an Engineer/Surveyor Intern for Underwood, ND. The role provides hands-on experience in surveying, data analysis, and mine design, with rotations between fieldwork and office tasks from May 2027 through December 2027 or August 2027 depending on program track.

This internship targets students in an accredited engineering or surveying program, offering exposure to GPS, drones, AutoCAD, and MSHA safety procedures, alongside a housing stipend and benefits.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in accredited engineering/surveying program and in good academic standing.
• Completed at least 1 year of college in the associated field of study.
• Applicants need to have a valid driver’s license.
• Steel-toed Shoes required.

Responsibilities

• Surveying – assist the survey crew with office computations and fieldwork using GPS, drones, robotic total station, or a remote-controlled boat.
• Process engineering/surveying data to produce reports or studies.
• Assist in permitting and preparation of mining maps and permits; design of mine roads, ponds and projects.
• Sampling – groundwater and soil sampling and geological programs.
