Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related degree program.
  • Completed at least 1 year of coursework (sophomore standing or higher preferred).
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles and mathematics.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to carry equipment, walk long distances, and work on uneven terrain.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Available to work full-time during summer and/or part-time during school year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist survey crews with field operations and data collection.
  • Learn to operate surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and levels.
  • Help establish survey control and collect elevation and terrain data for topographic maps.
  • Perform construction staking and boundary retracement.
  • Process field data and assist with survey drawings using CAD.
  • Prepare basic survey exhibits, sketches, and maps.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper care.
  • Follow safety protocols and crew chief direction.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development activities.
