Job summary

The Lucie in Jensen Beach, FL is seeking a Hotel Assistant Chief Engineer to join our engineering team. This hands-on leadership role focuses on maintaining guest comfort, safety, and asset protection across the resort.

You will supervise engineering staff, schedule maintenance, ensure code compliance, manage life safety systems, and respond promptly to service requests. A high school diploma or GED and at least three years in a related role are required; weekend/holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate guest-focused service and communication abilities.
• Experience in a hotel/maintenance leadership role preferred.
• Ability to lead and coach a team of engineering staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Engineering employees; interview, schedule, train, coach and counsel, provide open communications, review performance, resolve problems and enforce discipline as needed.
• Ensure compliance with corporate/franchise standards and codes to protect assets and ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
• Prioritize service requests; schedule and monitor maintenance to ensure safety and convenience for guests and staff.
• Test life safety systems to ensure 100% operation at all times to protect assets and people.
• Monitor utility consumption to evaluate system efficiency.
• Assist in administration by maintaining schedules, logs, records and documentation for smooth operations.
• Create a memorable guest experience and be ready to assist at all times; may assume Director of Engineering duties in absence.
• Perform special projects and participate in task forces as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Engineering employees; interview, schedule, train, develop, coach and counsel, provide open communications, recommend performance reviews, resolve problems and recommend discipline, as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to ensure safety, convenience and satisfaction of all guests, managers and employees, to protect the assets and maintain the property in first class condition.
• Prioritize service requests; schedule and monitor the service performed to ensure customer satisfaction, safety and convenience.
• Test and examine the life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational at all times to protect the assets, guests and employees.
• Monitor utility consumption to determine the effectiveness of current systems.
• Assist in the administration of the division by preparing and maintaining schedules, logs, records and other documentation to ensure a smooth operation and minimize liabilities.
• Create a memorable experience for our guest and customers. We should be ready and willing to assist our guest at all times. We are here to not only meet but exceed the expectations of our customers.
• May assume the responsibilities of the Director of Engineering in his/her absence.
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Three years of employment in a related position
• Advanced knowledge of the Building Management/Engineering profession
• Able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Excellent guest service skills and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lift to 20 lbs. and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods.
