This role is responsible for leading and overseeing planned and unplanned engineering activities within a heavy manufacturing environment, with a focus on Reliability Excellence, strategic planning, safety, and continuous improvement. The Engineering Superintendent will manage a multidiscipline team while driving a strong culture of problem‑solving, employee development, and operational excellence. This position supports Hot Mill operations, includes 24/7 on‑call responsibilities, and plays a key role in equipment health and long‑term process improvement.
As the Engineering Superintendent, you will:
- Lead engineering teams supporting Hot Mill operations, including deployment of Reliability Excellence tools and strategic maintenance planning
- Support execution of EHS plans, promote Human Performance principles, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local codes, and company standards
- Develop and mentor engineering personnel through coaching, performance management, and long‑term goal setting
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, benchmark best practices, and deliver engineering process improvements across the plant
- Track and improve equipment health, KPIs, maintenance efficiencies, and material and labor cost performance
- Maintain budgets, forecasts, and cost‑improvement activities while partnering with Procurement to manage contracts and service agreements
The Engineering Superintendent should have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- 6+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with supervisory responsibility
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Proven ability to lead multidiscipline engineering teams and drive operational excellence
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and industrial reliability systems; union plant experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, track capital projects, and work effectively across all levels of the organization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
