Job summary

Verdantas, a leading environmental consulting and engineering firm, seeks a Staff Engineer I in Blue Ash, OH and Fort Mitchell, KY. You will join a collaborative team and contribute to civil-site projects, gaining hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and stormwater modeling.

This entry-level role targets graduates with an ABET-accredited civil engineering degree and 0–2 years of experience, with mentorship from licensed engineers and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering required.
• 0–2 years of land development civil-site experience.
• Familiarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software.
• AutoCAD/Civil 3D familiarity preferred; ArcGIS familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support civil infrastructure projects for Northern Kentucky cities, counties, and private clients.
• Assist in preparing engineering plans, drawings, and specs for roadway and traffic improvements.
• Perform engineering analyses using established methods and software tools.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to model terrain and design elements; Excel for data tabulation.

Responsibilities

• Support civil infrastructure projects for Northern Kentucky cities, counties, and private clients, including roadway design, stormwater and drainage improvements, and utility infrastructure
• Assist in preparing engineering plans, drawings, and technical specifications for roadway, transportation, and traffic improvements such as reconstruction, resurfacing, widening, traffic analysis, drainage analysis, sidewalks, bikeways, private development, and utility layouts
• Perform engineering analysis and calculations using established methods and software tools, including stormwater drainage calculations, grading volume computations, and basic structural checks for small structures
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to model terrain and design elements, and Microsoft Excel for data tabulation and engineering formulas
• Prepare cost estimates and project documentation, including construction cost estimates, technical reports, and permit application packages, ensuring compliance with Kentucky standards and permitting requirements (KYTC, KY Division of Water, etc.)
• Support construction administration by performing site inspections, documenting progress, responding to field questions, and assisting with project closeout documentation and as-built drawings
• Collaborate across disciplines and project types, gaining exposure to municipal infrastructure, land development, and environmental consulting; multi-task across roadway design, site grading, storm sewer modeling, waterline layouts, and traffic control plans
• Leverage technical and software skills including AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Participate in professional development under the supervision of licensed engineers, with mentorship, training, and hands-on experience

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• 0-2 years of experience in land development civil-site engineering
• Familiarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D preferred
• EIT Preferred
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software is preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
