Maryland Environmental Service is seeking an Engineering Section Chief for the Technical and Environmental Services Group at MES Headquarters in Millersville, MD. The role leads a cross-functional team on energy initiatives and engineering projects, with responsibilities in business development, on-site management, and budget oversight.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and eight years’ experience, including five years in project supervision.

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Engineering Section Chief in the Technical and Environmental Services (TES) Group at our Headquarters in Millersville, MD. This position is a dynamic role providing leadership for a cross functional team involving both energy initiatives and engineering principles.
Daily responsibilities include business development for current and prospective clients, section leadership, on-site management of professional, technical, and engineering staff, assistance in the management of contracts and agreements, procurements, budget development and management, client, vendor and staff leadership and interaction. This position provides leadership and support to a variety of concurrent projects, including:
$113,064.33 - $155,463.03
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of experience in engineering projects; five (5) years of which must have included experience managing engineering projects and supervising professional and technical staff.Must have a valid driver’s license with less than five points.
Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for up to two years of the required experience.
Must be able to manage multiple projects and multiple subcontractors as assigned. Required to be self-disciplined in accomplishing tasks with minimal oversight and management. Must have energy and engineering as well as compliance, contract, and budget management experience.
The preferred candidate will have experience with such skills as the ability to independently work to provide oversight, planning and financial management support on a wide range of projects supporting numerous programs. A well-qualified candidate will have experience in formulating, assist in the management of multiple contract or service agreements, technical information and reports, and the ability to participate in team organization, development and coordination with a wide variety of stakeholders for success of the section’s programs.
