Job summary

Precision Technology, Inc., founded in 1969, is a family-owned, full-service investment casting foundry and machine shop based in Douglassville, Pennsylvania. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in investment casting or precision metal casting.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for all investment casting manufacturing processes.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to increase yield, reduce scrap, and improve throughput.
  • Analyze casting defects and implement permanent corrective actions using root cause analysis tools.
  • Develop, document, and standardize manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Support new product launches from quotation through production.
  • Design and optimize gating and feeding systems to maximize casting quality and yield.
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and quality requirements to determine manufacturing feasibility.
  • Manage engineering projects including equipment installation, automation, and capital improvements.
  • Lead and collaborate with Quality Assurance Team to resolve customer concerns and nonconforming product issues.
  • Monitor key process metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support production by providing timely troubleshooting of manufacturing issues.
  • Mentor and develop manufacturing engineers and engineering technicians.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and process capability.
  • Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and supplier evaluations when required.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.

Precision Technology specializes in turnkey products, transforming customer blueprints into fully machined castings within four to six weeks. With in-house heat treating and machining, the company offers shorter lead times and greater control over quality than foundries that rely on outside contractors. A modern, climate-controlled machine shop equipped with advanced CNC milling and turning machines enables customers to receive castings machined to precise specifications and ready for immediate use.

Position Summary

The Engineering/Quality Manager is responsible for leading engineering and quality control activities within an investment casting foundry to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance. This role provides technical leadership for process development, troubleshooting, new product introduction, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with production, quality, maintenance, tooling, and customers. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of the investment casting process, metallurgical principles, and manufacturing engineering practices, along with strong leadership and project management skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering discipline Experience
  • 7–10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in investment casting or precision metal casting
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the investment casting manufacturing process
  • Strong understanding of Metallurgy, Solidification principles, casting defect analysis, heat treatment, dimensional control
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP manufacturing systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
