Caterpillar Inc. seeks Engineering Project Team Leader - PERF/SIM/APP at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Rd., Bldg F, Mossville, IL 61552.

Job Duties:

Up to 50% of time will be spent in a team leadership role. The remaining time is composed of individual contributor requirements and bringing technical expertise to projects. Manage their own development, continuously learning through experience new business knowledge and skill. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Leading cross-functional global engineering teams to evaluate structural performance of complex mining, construction, and earthmoving machine systems and components using advanced numerical analysis methods and tools.
2. Providing technical guidance on product design issues such as material selection, durability, reliability, cost, and quality.
3. Developing and exploring emerging technologies, project planning, and resource management.
4. Participating in pre-test planning, on-machine testing, post-test analysis validation, and design optimization.
5. Preparing comprehensive technical presentations and reports.
6. Mentoring and coaching.

Minimum Requirements:

This position requires a master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Production, or Civil Engineering or a related field, plus 4 years of experience in Heavy mining, Construction, off-highway, Earthmoving machine products or related occupation. In the alternative, employer will accept a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Production or Civil Engineering or a related field, plus 6 years of experience in Heavy mining, Construction, off-highway, Earthmoving machine products or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have 3 years of employment experience with the following:

1. Leading and managing projects involving analysis, design, and validation of Mining, Construction, and Earthmoving machine structural systems and components.
2. Performing advanced structural analysis and fatigue evaluation of machine structural systems and components subjected to ground induced and vibrational loads.
3. Performing Nonlinear bolted and pinned joint analysis problems.
4. Performing Structural response dynamics analysis and correlation.
5. Digital Signal processing using DATK or MATLAB, or equivalent.
6. ABAQUS, NASTRAN, HYPERMESH, CREO, or equivalent.

Telecommuting: Up to 40% telecommuting permitted. Travel: 10% domestic.

Summary Pay Range:

$133,266 – $189,000

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
