Job summary

HDR is seeking an Engineering Project Manager (Water) to lead multi-discipline design teams on water infrastructure projects in Hawaii, coordinating with subconsultants and stakeholders to keep scope, schedule, and budget aligned.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, a PE license, 7+ years' experience (including PM), and proficiency in MS Office and MS Project. PMP is a plus. Join an employee-owned culture that values leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 7+ years related experience including at least 2 years in project management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead multi-discipline project design teams, including subconsultants, establishing work priorities with emphasis on quality and productivity.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects.
  • Produce and manage several small to medium-sized projects concurrently.
  • Prepare and/or review civil engineering scope of work and fee estimates for proposals.
  • Collaborate with operations and other managers to review project workload, status, and staffing requirements.
  • Serve as the Technical Manager, or Quality Control Reviewer on projects and pursuits.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, and provide new employee mentoring as needed.
  • Establish annual performance and development goals and conduct employee performance reviews.

In the role of Project Manager Engineering, we'll count on you to:

  • Manage and lead multi-discipline project design teams, including subconsultants, and establish work priorities while putting an emphasis on quality and productivity.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects
  • Produce and manage several small to medium-sized projects concurrently.
  • Prepare and/or review civil engineering scope of work and fee estimates for proposals.
  • Collaborate with operations and other managers to review project workload, status, and staffing requirements.
  • When appropriate, serve as the Technical Manager, or Quality Control Reviewer on projects and pursuits.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, and provide new employee mentoring, as needed.
  • Work with direct reports to establish annual performance and development goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Advance the skill level of personnel through training, education, experience, etc.
  • Perform project engineering duties when required.
  • Collaborate with Area Water Business Group Manager and Water Business Development Manager to identify upcoming pursuits, participate in pursuit teams, maintain client relationships, and perform other business development and marketing activities as required.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and ensure that work is completed within the negotiated scope of work and schedule.
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification
  • Interest in advancing digital delivery and AI-supported workflows in infrastructure projects
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years related experience inclusive of a minimum 2 years experience in project management
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience is required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
