Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) on site at Vandenberg SFB. The role focuses on leading large government projects, defining scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables with stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility. You will drive risk management, change control, and proposal support, mentor other PMs, and help implement best practices across the Project Operations Group.

U.S. government clearance is required; a valid U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science or related STEM field.
• 5+ years of project management experience; engineering PM preferred.
• Experience with Catalyst project management methodology and budget development.
• Experience aligning projects with client vision and objectives.
• Experience with delivery assurance principles and architecture/development phases.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Mentor other project managers and lead Communities of Practice.
• Improve POG processes, tools, and practices.
• Challenge non-value adding processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Management to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) to work onsite at Vandenberg SFB.

Essential Functions

• Manage large government projects preparing and defining the project scope of work, detailed schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for projects involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Document the baseline for engineering projects and decompose complex work activities into manageable components.
• Identify project resource requirements and coordinate directly and indirectly with project staff to ensure successful completion of the project. Organize project team members to ensure communication and understanding of scope, timelines, assignments, and objectives. Participate in work as applicable.
• Perform on-going review of project status and elevate issues where necessary. Notify management team early of potential technical challenges, schedule delays, and budget overages or shortfalls.
• Identify project risks and opportunities. Recommend and implement risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate.
• Interface with project staff and stakeholders to manage and assess change orders in each project, which may involve changes to project scope, cost, and schedule.
• Assist and/or lead detailed reviews of Request of Proposals (RFP). Assist and/or lead a team to develop technical elements, schedule, and price estimates for proposal submission.
• Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly status reporting on project performance against budget, financial and operational goals. Interface with the customer providing inputs to technical presentations, telecoms, and formal reviews.
• Mentor other project managers on best practices within the Project Operations Group (POG) and lead Community of Practice.
• Create and lead new and/or modified POG processes, tools, procedures, and best practices and provides solutions to complex issues within the organization.
• Challenge organizational processes that do not contribute to value delivery, and illustrate better process alternatives.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science or related science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) field.
• 5+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred
• Experience working with project management methodology such as Catalyst including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices
• Experience working with client vision, business objectives, and critical success factors
• Experience working with delivery assurance principles and procedures
• Experience working with techniques and approaches related to architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Compensation Details:

$115,000 - $120,000 annually
