Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Management professional to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) on site at Vandenberg SFB. This role leads large government projects from scope through deliverables, coordinating resources, budgets, and schedules to meet objectives.

The position requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of PM experience, with Catalyst methodology exposure and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Valid driver’s license and on-site work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
• 5+ years in project management; engineering PM preferred.
• Experience with Catalyst PM methodology, budgets, planning, control.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Secret U.S. Government Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Manage large government projects defining scope, schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables with stakeholders.
• Document baseline and decompose complex work into manageable components.
• Identify resources and coordinate with project staff to ensure successful completion.
• Review project status, escalate issues early, and alert management to risks or budget overruns.
• Mentor other PMs, lead Community of Practice, and drive process improvements in POG.
• Lead reviews of RFPs and assist in developing technical aspects, schedules, and price estimates.
• Oversee status reporting (weekly/monthly/quarterly) and interface with customers for inputs to reviews.
• Manage change orders and assess scope, cost, and schedule changes.

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Management to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) to work onsite at Vandenberg SFB.

Essential Functions

• Manage large government projects preparing and defining the project scope of work, detailed schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for projects involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.


• Document the baseline for engineering projects and decompose complex work activities into manageable components.


• Identify project resource requirements and coordinate directly and indirectly with project staff to ensure successful completion of the project. Organize project team members to ensure communication and understanding of scope, timelines, assignments, and objectives. Participate in work as applicable.


• Perform on-going review of project status and elevate issues where necessary. Notify management team early of potential technical challenges, schedule delays, and budget overages or shortfalls.


• Identify project risks and opportunities. Recommend and implement risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate.


• Interface with project staff and stakeholders to manage and assess change orders in each project, which may involve changes to project scope, cost, and schedule.


• Assist and/or lead detailed reviews of Request of Proposals (RFP). Assist and/or lead a team to develop technical elements, schedule, and price estimates for proposal submission.


• Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly status reporting on project performance against budget, financial and operational goals. Interface with the customer providing inputs to technical presentations, telecoms, and formal reviews.


• Mentor other project managers on best practices within the Project Operations Group (POG) and lead Community of Practice.


• Create and lead new and/or modified POG processes, tools, procedures, and best practices and provides solutions to complex issues within the organization.


• Challenge organizational processes that do not contribute to value delivery, and illustrate better process alternatives.


• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required


• 5+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred


• Experience working with project management methodology such as Catalyst including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices


• Experience working with client vision, business objectives, and critical success factors


• Experience working with delivery assurance principles and procedures


• Experience working with techniques and approaches related to architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases


• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.


• Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual starting salary for this position is between $120,000 - $130,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
