Actalent is seeking an Engineering Project Manager – Individual Contributor in Salt Lake City, UT. In this contract, onsite role, you will lead and coordinate several engineering projects from planning through execution, applying professional judgment in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/biomedical/materials or related field.
  • 4+ years engineering project management experience.
  • Experience in medical device, manufacturing, life sciences, biotechnology, aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects from planning through execution.
  • Independent contributor with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in evaluating data.
  • Excellent communication for cross-functional teams and leadership updates.

Job Title: Engineering Project Manager – Individual ContributorJob Description

This role leads and coordinates multiple engineering projects from planning through execution in a highly regulated environment. You will manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and external partners to ensure successful delivery of technical solutions. Operating as an individual contributor, you apply professional judgment and specialized engineering expertise to drive cross-functional teams, resolve issues, and maintain compliance with industry and quality standards while working independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring that milestones, timelines, and deliverables are achieved.
  • Assist in the management of multiple engineering projects by prioritizing tasks and assigning team members so that resources are used effectively and project deadlines are met.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation, to align with business objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and performance against the project plan, tracking key metrics and deliverables.
  • Identify project risks and issues, and implement effective solutions and mitigation strategies to minimize delays and disruptions.
  • Evaluate and authorize changes that may significantly impact project scope, budget, timelines, or resources, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure high-quality performance and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, quality requirements, and internal standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues as they arise while maintaining project schedules and objectives.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of engineering project management experience.
  • Experience working in medical device, manufacturing, life sciences, biotechnology, aerospace, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects from planning through execution.
  • Proven experience managing project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor, applying professional judgment with minimal supervision.

  • Professional mastery of a specialized engineering discipline gained through substantial applicable work experience.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional engineering and project-driven environment within a highly regulated industry such as medical devices, manufacturing, life sciences, biotechnology, or aerospace. You will collaborate regularly with engineering, quality, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and external contractors, using structured project management processes and tools to plan, track, and report progress. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
