Job summary

Mitsubishi Chemical America is seeking a project management and engineering leader to plan, lead, and deliver a portfolio of CAPEX and process-improvement projects on scope, on schedule, and on budget. The role combines mechanical and electrical engineering with disciplined project management to drive installations, upgrades, and handovers to operations.

Responsibilities include governance, cross‑functional coordination, budgeting, risk management, and development of capital business cases

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related).
• 5+ years of engineering and project management experience in manufacturing.
• Demonstrated success managing CAPEX projects from justification through startup.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience.
• PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Project and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital, engineering, and process-improvement projects from initiation through closeout, owning scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
• Develop integrated project plans, Gantt schedules, milestones, and critical-path tracking across multiple projects.
• Establish governance with charters, RACI, stage-gate reviews, and status reporting to plant and leadership.
• Coordinate cross-functional resources across engineering, maintenance, production, quality, procurement, EHS, and contractors.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, change orders, contingency, and scope creep.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; present options to leadership.
• Drive on-time, on-budget delivery from commissioning to handover to operations.
• Develop capital business cases (ROI, payback, NPV, TCO).
• Prepare approval-ready CAPEX packages aligned with governance.
• Quantify benefits such as capacity expansion, uptime, energy savings, quality, and safety.
• Lead equipment specification, RFQ, bid evaluation, and vendor selection.
• Manage procurement, installation, qualification, and validation through production release.
• Track spend against authorization; manage contractor performance.
