Job summary

Pioneer Cladding and Glazing Systems, Inc. seeks a Lead Engineer to coordinate engineering activities for complex fenestration projects. You’ll review architectural/structural drawings, oversee shop drawing creation in CAD, and contribute to design strategy across building envelopes and curtain walls.

Mentoring junior staff and supporting Production Control, Shop, and Field teams are key parts of the role. You will manage project estimates, schedules, and RFIs, ensuring timely, cost-effective

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or Construction Management with 3 years fenestration experience, or an Associate Degree with 8 years experience, or 10 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and PM tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of structural and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Drafting proficiency; standards application.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD; Revit and Inventor preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain Engineering Estimates and Project Status Reports.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate with the project management team; record minutes.
  • Review construction documents to develop cost-effective strategies and track revisions.
  • Manage Engineering RFIs and coordinate responses with teams.
  • Maintain Engineering tools and monthly schedules.
  • Develop plans to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensure time tracking and cost code allocation for team members.
  • Provide clear documentation and team alignment on project plans and deliverables.
  • Provide dashboard updates and labor tracking to Engineering Manager.
  • Deliver detailed Engineering Project Status Reports with explanations as needed.
  • Investigate discrepancies in project documents and propose cost-effective solutions.
  • Address schedule delays with submittal timelines and corrective actions.
  • Review calculations to identify changes in shop/fabrication drawings.
  • Assist with generating/revising shop and fabrication drawings; support manufacturing.
  • Research issues and gather input to optimize design efficiency.
  • Manage releases using RMS software.

Job Summary

Lead and coordinate engineering activities for assigned projects, including planning, organizing, monitoring, and reporting. Review architectural and structural drawings, interpret project scope, and apply engineering and architectural principles to oversee the creation of shop drawings using CAD software. Contribute to design strategy and resolve issues related to building envelopes, fenestration, and architectural elements such as curtain walls, entrances, windows, coping, and partitions. Mentor junior staff and support Production Control, Shop, and Field teams during manufacturing and installation.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Prepare and maintain Engineering Estimates and Project Status Reports; store documents per the Engineering Process Manual and coordinate with the project management team.
  • Attend client meetings, internal coordination sessions, and subcontractor discussions; ensure accurate meeting minutes are recorded and archived.
  • Review construction documents (e.g., architectural/structural drawings, specifications, BIM/VDC policies) to develop efficient, cost-effective project strategies. Track revisions and assess impacts on cost and schedule.
  • Manage Engineering RFIs and coordinate responses with the Engineering and Project Management teams for timely resolution.
  • Maintain project tools such as the Engineering Team Lead Checklist and die tracking sheet.
  • Update Engineering team schedules and resource allocations monthly.
  • Develop strategic plans to meet project deadlines and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensure accurate time tracking and cost code allocation for Engineering team members.
  • Provide clear documentation and ensure team alignment on project plans and deliverables.
Reporting
  • Provide dashboard updates and labor tracking to Engineering Manager.
  • Deliver detailed Engineering Project Status Reports with explanations as needed.
Analysis & Problem Solving
  • Investigate discrepancies in project documents using industry standards; collaborate on cost-effective solutions.
  • Address schedule delays by developing realistic submittal timelines and corrective action plans.
  • Review Professional Engineer calculations to identify necessary changes in shop and fabrication drawings and proactively catch potential errors.
Team Support
  • Assist with generating, checking, and revising shop and fabrication drawings as needed.
  • Support Production Control, Shop, and Field teams during manufacturing and installation.
  • Research manufacturing-related issues and gather input from other departments to optimize design efficiency.
  • Manage releases using Pioneer RMS software.
Software Proficiency
  • Microsoft Office; Microsoft Projects (preferred)
  • Microsoft Teams
