Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking an Associate Director of Engineering to independently manage large capital projects across manufacturing, laboratory, and infrastructure lines. The successful candidate will lead project teams, develop execution plans, and ensure scope alignment with business needs.

Position entails travel and service across multiple sites in the Americas. The first assignment includes West Point, PA with potential follow-ons to Rahway, NJ or Wilmington, DE.

Qualifications

• A minimum of ten (10) years' experience executing/delivering a variety of capital and/or expense projects.
• Experience in managing an integrated project team to deliver critical assets on time and within a prescribed budget.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills along with the ability to deliver project status and funding presentations in a concise, effective and organized manner.
• Outstanding decision-making skills and strengths in change management and team alignment.
• The ability to collaborate in a team environment that is sensitive to the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

• Manage an integrated project team to deliver assets on time and within budget.
• Lead development of project execution plans.
• Verify scopes provide a business solution and manage design strategies.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies and control project costs.
• Manage scheduling, construction oversight, and commissioning activities.
• Oversee communications, reporting, risk management and project close-out.
