Job summary

Apple Services Engineering in Seattle seeks an experienced Engineering Program Manager to lead data privacy and compliance initiatives across Apple’s global operations.

You will partner with legal and engineering teams to build scalable governance, define roadmaps, and drive adoption of privacy tools while ensuring compliance with evolving international laws.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in data compliance and/or data governance.
  • Ten or more years of experience in software development or big data.
  • Strong understanding of data laws and related concepts.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies and managing large programs.
  • BS in a technical field or equivalent industry experience.

  • Program ownership: partner with engineers and stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data privacy and compliance.
  • Define and continuously improve program/frameworks with a focus on efficiency, scalability and reporting.
  • Drive roadmap and strategy: define a scalable compliance infrastructure and tools across teams.
  • Champion product adoption: promote data privacy and compliance across the organization.
  • Foster cross-functional relationships and seamless communication across divisions.

Description

The Apple Services Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Program Manager to drive critical compliance initiatives across Apple's diverse lines of business. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring Apple meets its global data compliance commitments and adheres to evolving regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement a program to support internal stakeholders, lead large-scale compliance programs, establish and execute multi-year roadmaps, develop comprehensive monitoring and reporting mechanisms, drive process improvements, facilitate organization-wide communication, and support education initiatives in partnership with ASE's engineering teams.

Responsibilities
  • Program Ownership: Partner closely with internal engineers and organization-wide stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for improving our data privacy and compliance posture.
  • Define, establish, and continuously improve program and organizational frameworks, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and robust reporting.
  • Drive Program Roadmap and Strategy: Collaborate with legal and engineering partners to define and execute a roadmap for scalable compliance infrastructure and tools. Empower ASE’s development teams to efficiently ingest, store, process, transform, and analyze data while staying compliant with international data laws. Lead cross-functional discussions with stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and establish a strategic program roadmap that aligns with our collective vision.
  • Champion Product Adoption: Serve as a key advocate for data privacy and compliance, leading efforts to promote platform and tool adoption across the organization. Ensure awareness of compliance requirements and align stakeholders on the value of the compliance framework.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Relationships: Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal team members and across Apple. Facilitate seamless communication between divisions and foster a unified approach to achieving program goals.
  • Project Management: Execute on deliverables with resilience, creativity, and a strong sense of ownership. Lead with compassion and strive to identify and remove obstacles to progress.
Minimum Qualifications
  • +5 years of experience in data compliance and/or data governance
  • +10 years of experience in software development industry and/or big data
  • Excellent understanding of and experience in data laws and concepts
  • Experience in software development life cycle methodologies, and strategically managing large-scale programs
  • BS in a technical field or relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Digital Markets Act and other competition laws a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and build consensus
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication and reporting skills
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $250,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
