About Us

Founded in 2000, locally owned and operated, RbM Services is a growing turn-key design, manufacture, and service solution provider for medical devices in Tennessee’s Technology Corridor. With over 100 years of combined experience in the medical device industry, our management staff has extensive experience in intellectual property development, contract design, product development, field service support, and product support of medical devices and laboratory instrumentation. Our team is passionate and even obsessed with providing solutions that deliver cutting‑edge technology that improves patient experiences and outcomes. Our passion lies in the pursuit of perfection. We value our employee family and foster opportunities for us to engage in meaningful connections, and we reward employees who exceed expectations.

Job Description

As an Engineering Product Specialist, you will bridge the gap between design innovation and high-quality production. You will play a pivotal role in the cross-functional transition of complex medical devices from the legal Device Manufacturer to our primary manufacturing facility. By deeply mastering the device’s intended use, system and sub‑system technical specifications, and their theory of operation, you will act as a critical technical anchor for verification, validation, and ongoing operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Input & Lifecycle Testing (V&V): Provide early technical feedback during design reviews by analyzing requirements to generate test protocols and comprehensive verification and validation (V&V) plans for systems and sub‑systems. Track, manage, and execute necessary V&V testing for any subsequent engineering design changes before final production implementation.
  • Manufacturing Test Methodologies: Concept, develop, and validate robust test fixtures intended for subassembly verification prior to full system integration. Formulate, document, and validate end-to-end final system testing methodologies and assembly procedures.
  • Sustaining Engineering & Product Improvement: Continuously monitor and investigate actual product performance and real-world reliability metrics to engineer effective solutions. Identify opportunities for product optimizations, leading the subsequent design and implementation of those improvements.
  • Quality Assurance & Lifecycle Management: Participate actively in evaluating and dispositioning non‑conforming products alongside cross‑functional teams. Collaborate on systemic root‑cause investigations at the system and subsystem levels to institute preventative mitigations and prevent future defects. Proactively source and validate alternate mechanical or electrical components to navigate and alleviate End‑of‑Life (EOL) supply chain constraints.
  • Cross‑Functional & Field Enablement: Deeply master specialized product technologies to serve as the subject matter expert and technical reference for the manufacturing floor. Author and maintain comprehensive technical service guides and user manuals. Provide direct, high‑tier troubleshooting support to field service staff during complex field events.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.

Experience: 2-3 years of engineering experience spanning medical device design, test engineering, or manufacturing.

Verification & Validation: Proven experience executing software and electromechanical system-level verification and validation (V&V).

Electromechanical Systems: Strong hands‑on ability to design, assemble, and troubleshoot electromechanical circuits and systems.

Test Fixture Development: Demonstrated capability to conceptualize and develop automated test fixtures.

Compliance & Standards: Ability to interpret international or industry regulatory standards and directly apply those technical requirements to product design and testing.

Core Competencies: Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and a proven track record of managing multiple engineering assignments simultaneously in a structured environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience taking complex electromechanical products from initial design concept through full manufacturing transfer.

Test & Measurement: Advanced proficiency using standard laboratory test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers) to troubleshoot complex systems down to the component level.

Design Process: Firm understanding of the standard engineering design process.

Domain Knowledge: Basic understanding of the medical device product development lifecycle (e.g., design controls, risk management).

Specialized Components: Familiarity with specialized electrical and medical components, including Photomultiplier Tubes (PMTs), detection systems, motor controllers, stepper drives, X‑ray tubes, and high‑voltage generators.

Approach & Work Style: A proactive, hands‑on engineer who enjoys building prototypes, troubleshooting hardware, and executing rigorous testing in the lab.

Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills paired with an adaptable mindset for a fast‑paced team environment.

Benefits
