Job summary

City of Fort Wayne seeks a Program Manager I in Engineering Process Improvement & Innovation to lead cross‑functional efforts improving efficiency and service. You will transform data, ideas, and technology into practical improvements for city utilities engineering.

The role requires Lean/Six Sigma expertise, strong leadership and communication, and the ability to guide change across teams, vendors, and public stakeholders in a municipal setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; or an associate degree with 10+ years leading operations.
• At least five years using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methods.
• Strong leadership, communication, change management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel pivot tables, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvement and innovation initiatives to boost efficiency and customer service.
• Work across teams to evaluate current practices, introduce new tools, and guide change.
• Analyze workflows to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and lead process improvement strategies using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methods.
• Establish performance measures, track results, and prepare reports and presentations.
• Supervise employees and assist in hiring, training, performance management, and daily direction.
