Job summary

Xanterra invites an experienced Engineering professional to join the Grand Canyon South Rim team as Assistant Director of Engineering. The role focuses on day-to-day plant and facilities operations, ensuring reliability and safety for guests at one of the world’s most iconic sites.

The position includes leadership over maintenance, budget oversight, and CMMS optimization, with potential on-site housing benefits and a collaborative environment within the Grand Canyon South Rim community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in building tech, construction management, or engineering.
• Five years of progressive supervisory experience in a physical plant setting.
• Knowledge of boilers, generators, pumps, and water/waste systems.
• Experience with construction, mechanical, and specialized trades.
• Experience developing and managing financial plans.
• Familiarity with safety, environmental, and risk management rules.
• Working CMMS knowledge and report analysis skills.
• Knowledge of Historic Preservation guidelines and techniques.

Responsibilities

• In the absence of the Director, assume management of maintenance and engineering operations.
• Oversee parkwide maintenance program, inspections, repairs, and asset reliability.
• Supervise Maintenance Manager; prioritize work orders and control costs.
• Lead CMMS management to meet NPS submittals and procurements.
• Collaborate to optimize CMMS, mobile tech, dashboards, and reporting.
• Assist in budgeting and managing maintenance expenditures to meet financial plans.
• Ensure compliance with NEPA, 106, and safety standards.
• Develop safety, health, and training programs for engineering staff.
