Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a Maintenance Technician Floater to perform preventive maintenance, basic trades and grounds upkeep for multiple sites in Honolulu. You will travel between locations, handle work orders and coordinate purchases while ensuring safety compliance.

Ideal candidates have hands-on maintenance experience, own tools, and excellent customer service skills. Flexible schedule and the ability to lift 50–75 lbs are required; EPA/OSHA safety rules apply.

Qualifications

• General preventive maintenance experience required.
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Join our dynamic team at Hawaiian Building Maintenance and become a key player in repairing and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all our guests! We are on the hunt for a reliable individual with qualified industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician Floater will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance. Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial.

• Hours Per Week: 40
• Schedule: Varies - Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM (subjective to emergencies: after hours, weekends and holidays)
• Hourly Pay Rate: $24.00 - $26.00

Skills & Qualifications

• Must pass H.B.M. prescreen check.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is a plus.
• A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are essential.
• Flexibility in your schedule is a must.
• Must have your own basic hand tools.
• Proven Experience In General Preventative Maintenance Is Required.
• Troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude are key.
• Follow verbal and written instructions in English with ease.
• Excellent public relations and communication skills.
• A customer service mindset.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Perform basic manual labor and clean common areas. Handle lifting, pressing, pushing, pulling, and carrying at least 50lbs (up to 75lbs). Reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, and navigate stairways and ladders with confidence.
