About the Role

Our Search Platform team is the backbone of Attentive’s data infrastructure, processing, storing, and optimizing data at massive scale and speed. We handle billions of events from over 100 million customers daily, enabling near-real-time data insights and AI-driven capabilities through our Data, Optimization, and ML Platforms. What You’ll Accomplish

• Lead the technical vision for the Search Optimization team, aligning with company goals and driving strategic outcomes through innovative data solutions.
• Oversee the design and implementation of high-throughput data solutions, ensuring that they are scalable, efficient, and capable of powering critical operations.
• Partner with teams across AI, ML, analytics, and other departments to enhance and expand our search platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization.
• Establish and uphold high standards for data quality, governance, and system integration, addressing complex distributed data challenges with robust solutions.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration.
• Balance and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
• Champion the technical design, development, implementation, and support of web stack and big data applications including extending its capabilities applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.

Your Expertise

• You have 5+ years of industry experience developing software, with a proven track record of solving complex big data challenges and delivering impactful solutions.
• You are knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage, and have experience with search (Elastic, Lucene, Solr, etc.) and vector search (Pinecone, etc.) technologies.
• You have a strong commitment to software quality, with a history of building reliable, high-uptime systems that meet and exceed performance expectations.
• You excel at translating business needs into well-defined projects, taking a hands-on approach to solution design, implementation, and execution.
• You are passionate about emerging technologies and have the ability to evaluate and choose the right tools and technologies to drive innovation while balancing practical considerations.
• You thrive in a collaborative environment, working effectively with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and ensure cohesive execution.

What We Use

• Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS.
• Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm.
• Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS.
• Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright.
• Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas.

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000 - $260,000 annually + equity + benefits.

- Equity is a substantial part of the total compensation package.

- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location.
