Job summary

Etsy is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Recommendations Retrieval team. You will guide a group of engineers and applied scientists in building and operating core retrieval systems that deliver high-quality, personalized candidates for Etsy's recommendations across the homepage and surface pages.

You will supervise scaling of candidate generation, modernize the retrieval stack, and integrate machine learning to improve personalization at scale.

Qualifications

• Lead a talented group of engineers and applied scientists responsible for building and operating systems that generate high-quality, personalized candidates for Etsy's recommendation models.
• Own the core retrieval algorithms that power Etsy's recommendation surfaces across homepage, listing pages, cart, and beyond.
• Guide the team through scaling candidate generation systems, modernizing the retrieval stack, and ML integration for personalization at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the retrieval systems that produce personalized candidates for Etsy's recommendation models.
• Lead the Recommendations Retrieval team and shape the foundation of Etsy's customer experience across surfaces.
• Collaborate with engineers and data scientists, report to the Director of Engineering, Recommendations, and contribute to total rewards including equity and bonus.
