Job summary

Profound in New York City is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 8–12 engineers. You will focus on people management, coaching, hiring, performance, and delivery, leveraging your Rust expertise to guide the team and partner with the technical lead.

You will collaborate with product and partner teams to align priorities, plan work, mitigate risks, and maintain a healthy, high‑performing engineering organization in a fast-paced AI marketing platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership.
• Strong production Rust proficiency and experience coaching engineers.
• Proven ability to hire, coach, and deliver with accountability.
• Experience leading backend or platform teams and managing growth.
• Ability to set clear expectations, balance priorities, and delegate ownership.

Responsibilities

• Hire and develop a strong team of engineers.
• Own team planning and delivery with product and the technical lead.
• Coach engineers through one-on-ones, career development, and performance conversations.
• Partner with the technical lead on architecture and direction, using Rust expertise.
• Identify delivery risks early and coordinate cross-team dependencies.
• Build sustainable team practices around on-call and incidents.
• Coordinate with product and partner teams on priorities and handoffs.
