Job summary

Affirm is seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead the Resilience Engineering team in Los Angeles. You will champion production load testing and chaos engineering as core practices, ensuring safety and reliability of our production systems.

You'll mentor engineers, build platforms for safe experimentation, and collaborate with infrastructure, product, and security to embed resilience validation across the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in reliability, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience with production load testing, chaos engineering, or large-scale system validation.
• Experience with chaos engineering vendors such as Gremlin or Harness.
• Strong understanding of failure modes in distributed systems and observability.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the resilience engineering vision with a focus on production load testing and chaos engineering.
• Lead engineers building platforms and tooling for safe production experimentation.
• Partner with infrastructure, product, and security leadership to embed resilience validation into the SDLC.
• Establish best practices for testing system limits and failure scenarios in production.
• Own monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices for resilience testing.
• Identify weaknesses and drive reliability improvements through tests and chaos experiments.
